April was a busy month for the lab! This year, we presented research at two nearby conferences, our usual Western Psychological Association (WPA) meeting (this time in Sacramento), and our first visit to the interdisciplinary Western Social Sciences Association (WSSA) conference held in San Francisco (at the Hyatt Regency Embarcadero pictured above). WSSA provided opportunities for two Research Assistants to deliver oral presentations (one for the first time), and its Chronic Disease and Disability section (the forerunner to the national Society for Disability Studies) proved a welcoming community for three CSUEB faculty members to present on Empowering (Dis)Abled People Through the Arts in a symposium chaired by Prof. Chin-Newman. She also facilitated a roundtable discussion where colleagues from both CSUEB and San Jose State University (SJSU) gathered to continue the conversation about Becoming Accessibility Allies that was begun at last year's CSU Symposium on University Teaching and Learning hosted by SJSU.
