Mexico Peace Education Project

With co-Principal Investigator Livier Ayon, I am studying the AbrazoPaz ("Embracing Peace") program in Jocotepec, Jalisco in Mexico.  This peace education program for high school students uses creative movement, the arts, and mindfulness techniques from yoga in order to raise social awareness and develop leadership and facilitation skills in the youth, who in turn will teach what they have learned to younger children in "peace circles."

We are in the process of translating and analyzing data collected from program participants, adult mentors in the program, and parents of participants.

This research is funded by a grant from California State University, East Bay.
