Stacy Shaw

 

Stacy Shaw is currently Assistant Professor of Learning Science & Technology, and Psychological and Cognitive Science, at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. She recently graduated with her Ph.D. in Psychology from UCLA, where she was a National Science Foundation (NSF) Graduate Research Fellowship recipient.  She is also a past President of Psychology in Action.

 

Stacy is interested in exploring creativity in education, particularly divergent thinking and creative problem-solving, STEM education, as well as non-academic factors that affect student success. Her work with ACE revolved around examining the social support structures of recently transferred community college students and exploring the personalities of creative adolescents involved in different artistic domains.

 

Stacy is an alumna of CSU, East Bay, where she graduated with her bachelor's degree in Human Development with minors in Psychology and Statistics. She formerly worked as an Education Analyst for RTI International's Education and Workforce Development Division in Berkeley, California.

 

 

Kristina Spink

 

Kristina Spink was a Research Associate of the ACE Lab and is licensed as an early childhood educator and center director.  She received her bachelor’s degree from Cal State East Bay in Human Development with an emphasis in Early Childhood in 2014.

 

Kristina is interested in theories of attachment between children and secondary caregivers, as well as resilience and supports for university student-mothers. Kristina has played a key role in the LAND (Learning, Ability and Neurological Diversity) Project since its beginning in 2015, by helping to collect and analyze data, presenting at conferences and co-authoring publications. She has also analyzed and presented data from the Transfer Student Project pertaining to university student-mothers.

Meng Yao

 

Meng was a Research Assistant on the LAND Project, who went on to earn a bachelor's degree in Psychology from UC Berkeley.  She has helped to analyze LAND data related to the collaborative learning experiences of college students with disabilities.

Tammy Tran

 

Tammy was a Research Assistant on the LAND Project.  She graduated from UC Davis with a major in Psychology, and was an RA in the Personality and Self-Knowledge Lab of Dr. Simine Vizire.  Tammy's future plans include a career in social work.  She has helped to analyze LAND data related to the collaborative learning experiences of college students with disabilities.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Suzy Kain

 

Suzy Kain was a Research Assistant in the ACE Lab. After graduating with her BA in Human Development from California State University, East Bay, she earned her Master's in Social Work at UCLA.  She published a research article, "It's All in Your Head: Students with Psychiatric Disability Navigating the University Environment," in the Journal of Postsecondary Education and Disability. This analysis of 14 interviews with LAND participants is based on her senior thesis.

 

 

 

 

 

Patricia Finnegan

 

Patricia Finnegan was a Research Assistant in the ACE Lab who worked on the LAND Project and the Inclusive Performing Arts Project.  She was also an RA on the KISS Project headed by Dr. Richard Sprott. She is the founder of The Little Bear School of San Francisco, a creative arts/academic preschool.

 

Patricia is interested in the physiological, psychological, cultural and anthropological influences that affect human behavior and has a deep interest in the neurological origins of development and cognition. After graduating with her bachelor’s degree from Cal State East Bay in Human Development with an emphasis in Early Childhood, she went on to earn her master's in developmental psychology from Columbia University.

 

 

 

 

 

DJ Nair

 

DJ Nair was a Research Assistant on the LAND Project.  After graduating from California State University, East Bay with a BA in Human Development, and a minor in Biology., she went on to graduate study at CSUEB, earning an MS in Speech Language Pathology.  For her senior thesis, she analyzed LAND Project data related to Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Maggie Rich

 

Maggie was a Research Assistant on the Inclusive Performing Arts Project.  After graduating from Cal State East Bay with a BA in Human Development, Option in Early Childhood Development, she went on to earn an MSW from UC Berkeley, Maggie is currently employed as a social worker with the Veterans Administration.  She has helped to analyze Inclusive Performing Arts Project data related to psychological freedom and psychological safety.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Rukaiya Attarwala

 

Rukaiya was a Research Assistant on the Inclusive Performing Arts Project.  She recently graduated from Cal State East Bay with a BA in Human Development, Option in Early Childhood Development.  Rukaiya is currently enrolled in the multiple subjects teaching credential at CSUEB and plans to become an elementary school teacher.  She has helped to analyze Inclusive Performing Arts Project data related to psychological freedom and psychological safety.

 

 

 

Xintong "Gary" Li

 

Xintong "Gary" Li was a Research Assistant of the ACE Lab, and recently earned his Ph.D. in Statistics from Kansas State University. He is now a postdoc at Emory University. Gary's research interests are in spatial/spatio-temporal statistics, and its applications in agriculture, environmental science, and public health.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Tianyao Lu

 

Tianyao Lu was a Research Assistant of the ACE Lab specializing in quantitative analysis and statistics. His research interests include Bayesian Statistics on MTD (maximum tolerable dose) finding, and Bayesian linear models. Tianyao is now attending University of California, Santa Cruz in the Statistics Ph.D program.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Christina Marquez

 

Christina Marquez was a Research Assistant of the ACE Lab, and a Research Assistant/Facilitator at the Pacific Leadership Institute in California. She is interested in studying the effects of positivity and resiliency throughout psychological development. Specifically, she is focused on researching successful outcomes as a result of participation in youth intervention programs. She graduated with a Master's degree in Developmental Psychology from San Francisco State University.

 

 

 

 

 

Rami Nsour

 

Rami Nsour graduated from CSU East Bay with his Bachelor's Degree in Human Development, and then went on to earn his Master's in Educational Psychology from the University of Northern Colorado.
